DEVELOPMENT NEWS
READY NOW:
Important and major tunings and bug fixes in Nav N Go iGO 8 engine, revision R3.
We recommend you go with the latest and greatest software version and ask your PM to migrate your projects from R1 or R2 to version R3!
HANDY NEW FEATURES INCLUDING:
Performance stability and memory tuning: the new version uses even less memory, with particular improvements to TTS memory handling.
Guidance stripes instead of simple arrows: better visual representation of the direction to follow when maneuvering.

Signposts: signposts are displayed when you are driving, for example, on a highway.
New road signs: when approaching the next maneuver, Nav N Go iGO 8.3 shows fewer, but more easily recognizable, road names.

Shutdown counter: when disconnecting the device from the external power supply, Nav N Go iGO 8.3 counts down to shutdown. The countdown default setting is 10 seconds (adjustable by OEM).
2D head up: when navigating in 2D mode, the map can be set to rotate continuously so the driving direction always points straight up.
Improved street name and address search including:
- better management of alternative street and city names
- Much improved "Metro Area" searches in the US.
The above example shows the set of results when searching for "New York" (using Navteq maps). You have the option to select the whole metropolitan area ("New York City Metro") or only the core city ("New York").
Ability to search for a section of a longer road:
If you have a long road in a large city, you can limit your search to house numbers falling within a district of the city.
Example:
Search for Hungary, 1133, Váci út.
House number shows 39 - 108
(the numbers that fall within 1133 postal code)
"Extra orders" improvement: Search for a settlement called Adamów in Poland. The results give more information on the administrative levels.

Support for alphanumeric house numbers: such as 30W221 Butterfield Road in Chicago or 99-40 63rd Road in New York
Micro build: a simplified Nav N Go iGO 8 version that runs on 32 MB (Centrally Micro) devices
Smart Zoom improvements
Navteq maps support
To ensure compatibility with previous versions, most of these features are disabled by default.
Important:
The internal map format has changed in version R3, so upgrading a release to R3 also requires the map database to be updated.
In development:
Support for Loquendo TTS engine, version 7 on PNA-s. This leads to better phoneme handling, especially for Navteq data.
PDA version based on R3 – to give the latest and greatest version to our PDA users as well.
Pak už tam jsou jen kecy o partnerství a o čínskejch mapách...
